Storage Conditions

Temperature: Storing THRIVE at a high temperature can significantly increase the speed that calories and vitamins will degrade over time. In the correct storage container, low-moisture foods such as THRIVE can be stored at room temperature or cooler (75 degrees Fahrenheit or lower) and remain nutritious and edible for years. Our stated shelf life assumes that the product will be stored in optimal conditions.

Humidity: The affects of humidity on a closed can are caused by heat and very similar to the affects of high temperature (see above). High humidity can corrode the cans and in some cases even cause the cans to leak. Areas with high humidity can reduce the opened shelf life of the product. As humidity varies with location please use your own discretion to prevent possible sickness from eating spoiled food.

Damaged Container: Minor dents in the center of the can are usually just a cosmetic issue. However, a can that has been dented near or on a seam can have a compromised air-tight seal and allow oxygen to enter the can. If this is the case we recommend using the dented can within the specified opened shelf life, rather than closed.

The best way to maintain the highest quality of your THRIVE products is to take care of them. If you intend on storing your food for the sealed shelf life, store the cans in a place that is not open to elements such as water, light, and air. Take care of it. Don't expose it unnecessarily to the elements. Also, be sure to keep the temperature and humidity low and even. Under these proper storing situations your THRIVE will maintain its delicious taste, natural coloring, and proper nutrients.

  1. Loved 'Em

My husband says these are the best "just add water" pancakes he has ever had. I agree. We had them with a great blueberry compote I made out of freeze dried blueberries, sugar, and butter powder. It was a great Christmas breakfast!

  2. Yummy in Your Tummy :)

Wow, I have been using dehydrated, dried, food storage foods for 40 years minimum, and I have never tasted anything that is as good as this pancake mix. It needs NO syrup to be delicious, which is great for a diabetic like me. It mixes super easy and the increased nutrition is awesome also. Even my one-year-old granddaughter loves these pancakes and begs for more. Definitely worth buying!

  4. One of my favorite Thrive products!

Thrive 6 Grain Pancake Mix is so versatile! Sure it's great for pancakes and waffles, but it is also perfect as a base for muffins and cakes!

  5. Delicious!!!

First, let me say that this mix has made me a whole grain convert! We've been trying to eat more whole grains, but every pancake and waffle mix we've used has been healthy...and had roughly the same consistency as a loofah. Not very appealing! However, having had such a terrific experience with other Thrive products, we decided to give this mix a go. We used it to make waffles--and they were amazing!

The waffles came out nicely chewy, and pleasantly light. The flavor was really superb. Everyone had seconds! My only caution is, if you do use this mix to make waffles, use plenty of cooking spray on your waffle iron. We found that we definitely needed more than we usually used.

    This is a must-have!!!

  6. Refreshing to have a tasty healthy pancake.

This is the first Thrive product I have ever bought. I decided to try it when I saw the display at my county fair this year. I was really impressed at the ease of preparation and the whole grain taste was refreshing when compared to other whole grain pancake mixes. I am hooked on this mix and anxious to try more Thrive products. Thank you.

  8. Moist, Golden, Delicious!!

I use these with Natalie's version of the pancake - with the powdered eggs & non-fat powdered milk. They are so good, that the two batches I put in the freezer didn't last more than two months. HA!

I love the nutty flavor and texture of this product, and my husband also enjoys them.

  9. Surprisingly Tastey

This is the first product I've bought for "food storage" purposes. Figured I couldn't go wrong with pancakes. I mixed up a single serving tonight (1/2 cup mix and about 1/3 cup water) and made a nice thick pancake of about 5 1/2 inches. I decided to taste it just plain and I was totally surprised by how good it tasted with no syrup or fruit or anything. I couldn't stop eating it. Glad I bought a case of the stuff.

  10. Delish!

Made these for dinner tonight and they were a hit! I agree with other reviewers - you want the batter to be a little thinner to avoid half cooked cakes :)

  12. Add more water

I like these pancakes but in my opinion if you follow the instructions these pancakes come out too thick and it is easy to end up with pancakes that are cooked on the outside and raw in the middle. I suggest adding a little more water than called for.

  13. Tasty Pancakes

I used the mix with just water. The pancakes had great texture and flavor. When I buy more of my supplies I will probably get a case.

  14. just add water!

These pancakes are moist and thick and have a terrific taste, even if just adding water! You can also add milk/eggs for waffles.

  15. Even if you don't like pancakes you will love these!

I am not a fan of pancakes, to the point that I just don't eat them. My family loves pancakes but I hate making them so they have gone without. I heard about these and decided to give them a try. I love them. They taste so good. I have a nephew that doesn't like pancakes either. He came to visit and complained that I was making pancakes. I bribed him to try them and now whenever he comes to visit he wants me to make these pancakes. We seriously eat them at least 2x's per week. I don't know what they did to make them so good, but I love them! They are great as waffles also.

  16. Pretty Good

These pancakes are usually a big hit in our home. They cook up very well and even hold up well to additions like blueberries, banannas or mini chocolate chips. My children and hubby have complained about the "crunchy" texture of the pancakes. This comes from a part of the grain that does not cook all the way through when making the pancake. It does not affect the taste, which is very good, but steers away from the light and fluffy texture of a traditional pancake.

  19. So good, you can't tell they're good for you!

I kept hearing great reviews about these pancakes. I finally bought a #10 can and I love them! I like to add a bit of vanilla to the batter, or even sprinkle cinnamon on top. Another great thing to add to these: strawberries and whipped cream! Great taste!
