I used to kill black widows at our elementary school all the time. According to the administration, there is no spray that is legal to use at schools that kills black widows. My weapon of choice was usually a rolled up magazine, or just a bundle of rolled up paper. No kids have been bitten (yet).

The best weapon is Clark, Terminex, or another professional. Next best is a fly swatter.

The best thing we have in our house to kill spiders is my husband's shoe. But don't tell him that.

Orange Guard works the BEST on any bug and it's environmentally safe AND it won't hurt pets or kids. Bug spray can be toxic and harmful to all living creatures. Orange Guard only kills bugs.
google it if your hardware store doesn't carry it.

Make sure you check for egg sacks that the Black Widow may have left behind. You could wind up with a whole house full of Black Widows!

I lived in in San Francisco for a good part of my life, our garage was black widow haven. We used hair spray the heavy duty Aqua Net they can't move after being spray we kept a can in the garage and if we saw a web, nasty looking web we took care of it too. Remember all is not well, if one spider chances are there will be two or maybe like in our case hundreds.

Best thing for killing spiders is a toilet scrubber! You remain a safe distance away at the end of the scrubber stick and squash a spider easily with the scrubby end of the brush.
