go towel 2 285x300 Whats New: Some Things Old, Some Things NewGo! Towels (Pre-Moistened, 100% Cotton Washcloths)

One of my supervisors asked me to give these new towels a try and write a product description about them. I was perfectly happy to do it, of course, but I have to say that I was really surprised at how much I liked them! I guess I was expecting a baby wipe or something of that nature – something that would feel sticky, flimsy, and totally disposable. Of course, it says right on the package that the washcloths are made from cotton, so I guess I should have known better. As it turns out, the Go! Towels are made of sturdy cloth that you can wash and reuse over and over again. They also have a real lemon scent, which is actually anti-microbial and insect-repellent. I really enjoy this product, and I plan on using the towels on car trips and hot days in the garden. I’m sure they’d be great for parents trying to clean up their kids’ hands and faces, as well as for runners or outdoor enthusiasts who want a little extra refreshment during a long trek. “A Year’s Supply in Seven Days” by Mary Wilde

This new workbook by Mary Wilde was just added to our website earlier this week. I did a pretty thorough reading of it in under an hour, which should tell you that this is a very simple and straightforward book. The author gives you a step-by-step method to determine what you need to have in your food storage, how to make the space for it, how to save money when buying it, and, finally, how to use it. Included are weight conversions, a guide to shelf life, great recipe ideas, and a menu-planning spreadsheet to help get you started. While the author draws significantly from the words of Mormon church leaders, the principles and techniques are accessible to people of all faiths and skill levels. I really enjoyed the simplicity and practicality of this book, and the cover price of $5.95 is hard to beat! You can check it out by clicking here.

Recipe for Cheesy Spaghetti Pie

I just have to put in a plug for this recipe, which has had a home in the Shelf Reliance Recipe Database for quite some time. I made it for dinner a week or two ago, and my husband and I enjoyed it thoroughly! We ended up having leftovers for a few days, too; it tasted great even after being refrigerated and microwaved. I felt like this recipe was just a bit more involved than making regular spaghetti, which isn’t saying much! It’s also really flexible; you can toss in any extra cheese or vegetable you might have on hand to mix it up, or you can use different varieties of noodles. For something that’s a crowd-pleaser and a quick fix, I’d recommend this recipe in a heartbeat. Get the full story by clicking here.

those books sound interesting – i’m a beginner to food storage, and it can be daunting!

  • Emily Barton Says:

Those go towels sound awesome! Much better than wipes. Thanks for the review.

  • Morgan Koji Says:

The towels look great, little fingers get sticky so quick! And the Cheesy Spaghetti Pie looks really yummy!

  • April Elsegood Says:

I currently have a pack of baby wipes in my 72-hour kits, but maybe the towels would be better?? Certainly they would be sturdier and probably cover more area. But once you’ve used them, then what?

  • Jenny Osorio Says:

These towels sound interesting. Are they safe to use on babies?

  • Sara Hanks Says:

The towels are completely safe for children and babies. I suppose there’s the possibility that some people could have an allergic reaction to the cotton or the lemons, but barring that, they’re totally safe.

As for April’s question: once you’ve used the towels, you can either get rid of them altogether (since they’re biodegradable), get them moist and reuse them for other cleanup jobs, or even wash them. These are real live washcloths; you can treat them as such.

  • Kiley Smith Says:

These are super neat and would be GREAT to keep in case of emergency’s!

  • Alexis AKA MOM Says:

The towels look great, especially for the garage when you always need to have them hanging around!

Ok that dish looks super yummy, thanks for a new recipe :)

  • Melissa Says:

Having been in the hospital for surgery recently and having used the Comfort Bath cloths to wash up with, the towels sound much, much better.
