Storage Conditions

Temperature: Storing THRIVE at a high temperature can significantly increase the speed that calories and vitamins will degrade over time. In the correct storage container, low-moisture foods such as THRIVE can be stored at room temperature or cooler (75 degrees Fahrenheit or lower) and remain nutritious and edible for years. Our stated shelf life assumes that the product will be stored in optimal conditions.

Humidity: The effects of humidity on a closed can are caused by heat and very similar to the effects of high temperature (see above). High humidity can corrode the cans and in some cases even cause the cans to leak. Areas with high humidity can reduce the opened shelf life of the product. As humidity varies with location please use your own discretion to prevent possible sickness from eating spoiled food.

Damaged Container: Minor dents in the center of the can are usually just a cosmetic issue. However, a can that has been dented near or on a seam can have a compromised air-tight seal and allow oxygen to enter the can. If this is the case we recommend using the dented can within the specified opened shelf life, rather than closed.

The best way to maintain the highest quality of your THRIVE products is to take care of them. If you intend on storing your food for the sealed shelf life, store the cans in a place that is not open to elements such as water, light, and air. Take care of it. Don't expose it unnecessarily to the elements. Also, be sure to keep the temperature and humidity low and even. Under these proper storing situations your THRIVE will maintain its delicious taste, natural coloring, and proper nutrients.

  1. 1:3 ratio

Something I would like to bring to everyone's attention ... 1 C of the soup product to 3 C water does not make 1 serving. It should read that it makes (3) 1 cup servings.

Other than that, the soup is delicious! I've made it several times this winter, and it's very comforting on a cold day at lunch or evening supper. I've also added both the FD broccoli and cauliflower for added crunch and flavor. Yum!

  2. Like it with a little cream cheese melted in

I added a little chicken bouillon, a handful of freeze dried cheddar cheese and about 6 oz. of cream cheese cut into chunks. Let it cook until the cream cheese is melted. So rich and tasty!

  3. Wonderful soup!! Hearty and Delicious.

This was better than I expected. It was also much thicker and creamier than I was anticipating. It is more like a chowder in consistency. I could easily see adding ham or chicken to it and maybe the diced potatoes that are freeze dried. It was great by itself but you could doctor it up in so many ways! My family really loved it and it is very filling. An absolute must have in your home store!

  4. Better than expected

I tried this soup for the first time tonight. It has a nice cheesy flavor and is thick and creamy. It also had just enough broccoli flavor for our family. My five year old son doesn't like broccoli, but he did give me thumbs up when he tasted the soup. I was surprised at how filling this soup is. I served it with bread sticks and some carrots on the side and even my husband was very satisfied when he was done. Usually when we have soup for dinner it doesn't fill him up, but this was very hearty. Personally one ramekin of soup filled me up! We all loved the flavor and I am already thinking of other ways you could use it. It would taste great over rice in a casserole or even over pasta. I am definitely going to order more for my home store.

  5. Yum-o

This is very good soup. Some prepackaged soups can be salty, this one is not. It has a very cheesy flavor. I like it plain but adding a little FD broccoli to it will make it go a little further and sneaks in a little more veggies for the kids.

  6. Great flavor, but not thick enough

The directions say to mix with boiling water and serve. I simmered it on the stove for a short time until completely dissolved. I will reduce the water or add extra mix next time for a little thicker soup. The flavor is very good, and I am going to add extra broccoli as suggested by another review. This made a great light lunch with some french bread for dipping

  8. Great for a quick delicious meal. Add some bread and a salad to make it complete!

This soup is the perfect comfort food. It is great as is but I made a couple modifications. I love broccoli so I took some of my freeze dried broccoli and added it to the soup to make it a little more filling. Berfore serving I sprinkled a little cheese on top and served it with rolls and a green salad. Next time I'll use our new freeze dried cheese on top!
