Ingredients

  • 2 1⁄3 c hot tap water (120-130 degrees fahrenheit)
  • 1⁄4 c oil
  • 2 T thrive white sugar
  • 2 t thrive iodized salt
  • 5 1⁄3 c thrive whole wheat flour, divided
  • 4 t instant yeast

Instructions

* Combine hot water and oil in a glass mixing bowl. Add sugar, salt, and 4 c flour; beat until combined.

* Add yeast and beat 3 minutes (by hand: 450 strokes).

* Stir in remaining flour, beating 25 strokes; cover with a cloth and allow to rise in a warm place until dough has doubled in size (about 20 minutes).

* Stir batter bread down, beating 25 strokes; divide evenly into two greased 8x4 inch loaf pans. Smooth tops with floured hand, if desired.

* Cover; let rise until dough has doubled again (15-20 minutes).

* Bake loaves at 375 degrees for 35 minutes. Remove from pans and cool on a wire rack.
