Caramel Sauce
Add a drizzle of caramel sauce to ice cream or brownies. Your whole family will love the taste!
Prep Time
Yield
Ingredients
- 3⁄4 c thrive white sugar
- 1 1⁄4 c water, divided
- 1⁄4 c light corn syrup
- 4 1⁄2 T thrive powdered milk, dry
Instructions
*Combine sugar, 1/2 c water, and corn syrup in heavy medium saucepan, being careful to keep all ingredients in the bottom of the pan and not splashed up onto the sides. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
*Increase heat and boil without stirring until mixture turns a deep amber color, occasionally swirling the pan and brushing down the sides of the pan with a wet pastry brush.
*After about ten minutes, remove pan from heat. Mix remaining water with powdered milk, creating evaporated milk. Carefully add to the heated mixture.
*Stir sauce over low heat until any caramel bits dissolve and sauce is smooth.
Notes
Can be prepared a day ahead. Cover and refrigerate. Reheat over medium-low heat just until pourable, then let caramel sauce cool to room temperature.
