THRIVE freeze-dried broccoli will help you maintain a well-balanced diet and active lifestyle. Each bite-size piece of THRIVE Broccoli is loaded with vitamin K, A, and D, making this green vegetable the perfect addition to any meal.

THRIVE Broccoli is already cut and trimmed, so you can quickly add it to your favorite soups, casseroles, salads, and much more! Whether you use it as a tasty side dish or ingredient, the freeze drying process ensures that the freshness and nutrition will last for years to come.

Rehydration Instructions:

Add 1 cup broccoli to 1 cup water and soak for 1–3 minutes until tender. Drain any excess water. Makes 1 cup broccoli pieces.

What is freeze drying?
THRIVE freeze-dried products are flash frozen, sublimated, and packaged to remove as much water as possible, all without sacrificing quality or nutritional value. These foods last longer and are healthier than foods that are simply dehydrated. Though both processes remove significant amounts of water from perishable food items, the speed of freeze drying locks in existing tastes and nutrients that would be lost during dehydration. Additionally, since freeze drying removes a greater percentage of water than dehydration, the shelf life of freeze-dried food increases by several years.

Storage Conditions

Temperature: Storing THRIVE at a high temperature can significantly increase the speed that calories and vitamins will degrade over time. In the correct storage container, low-moisture foods such as THRIVE can be stored at room temperature or cooler (75 degrees Fahrenheit or lower) and remain nutritious and edible for years. Our stated shelf life assumes that the product will be stored in optimal conditions.

Humidity: The affects of humidity on a closed can are caused by heat and very similar to the affects of high temperature (see above). High humidity can corrode the cans and in some cases even cause the cans to leak. Areas with high humidity can reduce the opened shelf life of the product. As humidity varies with location please use your own discretion to prevent possible sickness from eating spoiled food.

Damaged Container: Minor dents in the center of the can are usually just a cosmetic issue. However, a can that has been dented near or on a seam can have a compromised air-tight seal and allow oxygen to enter the can. If this is the case we recommend using the dented can within the specified opened shelf life, rather than closed.

The best way to maintain the highest quality of your THRIVE products is to take care of them. If you intend on storing your food for the sealed shelf life, store the cans in a place that is not open to elements such as water, light, and air. Take care of it. Don't expose it unnecessarily to the elements. Also, be sure to keep the temperature and humidity low and even. Under these proper storing situations your THRIVE will maintain its delicious taste, natural coloring, and proper nutrients.

  1. Awesome and yummy

These are great right out of the can. My kids love them, even my 15 month old. They cant get enough of them. Its great to have my kids snacking on something so healthy and enjoying it. I take them with me also to all the places I go, just to snack on.

  2. Superb Quality

I absolutely LOVE this broccoli. I am a fan of a brands Mac and cheese with broccoli in it but there isn't enough broccoli. I added some THRIVE Broccoli to it and it was incredible to see and taste the difference in quality. The THRIVE Broccoli was much greener and fresher than the broccoli that came in the box. From now on I will only add THRIVE Broccoli to my mac and cheese and toss the other stuff. Yummy stuff.

  3. Great Product

I love broccoli and decided to try this version since I had been so impressed with all the other shelf reliance items. I made the potato soup from this site and decided to add some of the broccoli in the boiling water before mixing the soup in. It was wonderful! It softened in about 2 minutes in the boiling water, as opposed to having to steam it for 20 minutes normally. I also made the cornmeal cornbread which was a great addition with the powdered milk. My whole meal was from Shelf Reliance and it was amazing. I also snacked on the plain freeze dried broccoli which was crunchy and a little sweet. I would give my daughter the broccoli in a plastic sack just to eat as a snack.

  4. My ultimate favorite

Broccoli has always been my favorite vegetable even washed and chopped from the garden. When I first signed on as a party customer, the broccoli was my first veggie. I had all I could do to keep myself from snacking on it right out of the can. When rehydrated, I love the crisp, raw flavor; and it steams really nice in my pressure cooker. Delicious!!

  5. Risked it all and wasn't disapointed

Was planning dinner for a group and ran out of broccoli for my sesame pork, I would never dream of using anything but fresh broccoli or at least frozen broccoli to be sautéed with the pork but desperate times called for desperate measures. I just had received my first can of self reliance freeze dried broccoli a few days before, so I bravely tried it. At dinner I got rave reviews and no one knew I hadn't used fresh broccoli.
I am a food storage veteran and never would have considered using my old style dried vegetable food storage in anything but soups, stews and casseroles but I have changed my tune, and this is going to be my little secret in my kitchen from now on.

  11. very fresh!

The broccoli is fresh and diced into small pieces, containing both florets and stalk. I love adding it to casserole dishes and the potato-cheese soup!

When rehydrating, keep in mind that they haven't been cooked yet, so if you want a cooked, softer texture, they'll need to be cooked like broccoli from your garden or store.
