What is freeze drying?
THRIVE freeze-dried products are flash frozen, sublimated, and packaged to remove as much water as possible, all without sacrificing quality or nutritional value. These foods last longer and are healthier than foods that are simply dehydrated. Though both processes remove significant amounts of water from perishable food items, the speed of freeze drying locks in existing tastes and nutrients that would be lost during dehydration. Additionally, since freeze drying removes a greater percentage of water than dehydration, the shelf life of freeze-dried food increases by several years.

Storage Conditions

Temperature: Storing THRIVE at a high temperature can significantly increase the speed that calories and vitamins will degrade over time. In the correct storage container, low-moisture foods such as THRIVE can be stored at room temperature or cooler (75 degrees Fahrenheit or lower) and remain nutritious and edible for years. Our stated shelf life assumes that the product will be stored in optimal conditions.

Humidity: The affects of humidity on a closed can are caused by heat and very similar to the affects of high temperature (see above). High humidity can corrode the cans and in some cases even cause the cans to leak. Areas with high humidity can reduce the opened shelf life of the product. As humidity varies with location please use your own discretion to prevent possible sickness from eating spoiled food.

Damaged Container: Minor dents in the center of the can are usually just a cosmetic issue. However, a can that has been dented near or on a seam can have a compromised air-tight seal and allow oxygen to enter the can. If this is the case we recommend using the dented can within the specified opened shelf life, rather than closed.

The best way to maintain the highest quality of your THRIVE products is to take care of them. If you intend on storing your food for the sealed shelf life, store the cans in a place that is not open to elements such as water, light, and air. Take care of it. Don't expose it unnecessarily to the elements. Also, be sure to keep the temperature and humidity low and even. Under these proper storing situations your THRIVE will maintain its delicious taste, natural coloring, and proper nutrients.

  1. Great

My husband hates spinach out of the can or frozen. The only way he would eat it was fresh spinach leaves in his salad. He tried this freeze dried spinach and he loved it. I like to add it to all kinds of things now because of the health benefits, and it taste excellent. I think everyone should have this spinach, its easy, tasty, yummy and so full of nutrients.

  2. Better for recipes than as a side dish

I received the chopped spinach today with my Q and immediately cooked some to use as a side dish for dinner. I wasn't too impressed with it as a side item since the spinach is chopped into small pieces. I could see this being more useful in omelets, quiches, and other recipes that call for spinach. For side dishes, I will stick with fresh spinach or store bought canned spinach. It would be nice if the spinach was also available in larger freeze-dried leaves.

  3. Very good!

I love this spinach. I especially love how easy it is to add some extra veggies and color to your meal. No fuss, no muss just throw a handful in here and there. Even my kids love it! Great in soups, casseroles, lasagna...whatever!

  4. Great addition for variety and nutrition boost

When you need a boost of nutrition to a dish this is great. Add to pre-made pasta sauce or toss some in when you are rehydrating and cooking your potatoes. So much better and more flavorful than those frozen squares of spinach! Plus you can use as much or as little as you want.

  5. So Versatile

I can put this stuff in anything and It helps to pack in the nutrients. My kids don't even notice. Most of the time. If the see the green stuff I tell them it is seasoning and they are okay with it. I even add it to my chocolate breakfast shake with half a banana. It is really good.
