The Red Cross Solar Link radio is similar to the Solar Link FR360. It is an all digital, splash-proof radio that can be charged by solar, crank, AAA batteries, and AC power. This lightweight radio includes AM/FM and NOAA weather radio, alarm clock, a flashing beacon, USB port, flashlight and cell phone charger. The FR600 also includes Specific Area Message Encoding (S.A.M.E.), shortwave band, and an emergency siren.

The radio is not difficult to use. I purchased it for my elderly mother-in-law and when I was teaching her to use it I never noticed that it was also shortwave. So, that begs the question of how obvious is the shortwave function?
