Storage Conditions
Temperature: Storing THRIVE at a high temperature can significantly increase the speed that calories and vitamins will degrade over time. In the correct storage container, low-moisture foods such as THRIVE can be stored at room temperature or cooler (75 degrees Fahrenheit or lower) and remain nutritious and edible for years. Our stated shelf life assumes that the product will be stored in optimal conditions.
Humidity: The effects of humidity on a closed can are caused by heat and very similar to the effects of high temperature (see above). High humidity can corrode the cans and in some cases even cause the cans to leak. Areas with high humidity can reduce the opened shelf life of the product. As humidity varies with location please use your own discretion to prevent possible sickness from eating spoiled food.
Damaged Container: Minor dents in the center of the can are usually just a cosmetic issue. However, a can that has been dented near or on a seam can have a compromised air-tight seal and allow oxygen to enter the can. If this is the case we recommend using the dented can within the specified opened shelf life, rather than closed.
The best way to maintain the highest quality of your THRIVE products is to take care of them. If you intend on storing your food for the sealed shelf life, store the cans in a place that is not open to elements such as water, light, and air. Take care of it. Don't expose it unnecessarily to the elements. Also, be sure to keep the temperature and humidity low and even. Under these proper storing situations your THRIVE will maintain its delicious taste, natural coloring, and proper nutrients.

Great Dinner
I just made this for dinner and the entree was great! Everyone went back for seconds - so I had to make a second round (the two cups of mix; one spice packet & two cups boiling water)! This was really good. I have a gluten sensitivity so I am very cautious about what I buy and I am very impressed with Thrive! Most other brands of dehydrated food have wheat mixed in them or worse the "food starch" that could mean anything. The one thing that I will mention is that the spice packet does contain corn - which you won't see on the website description. So if you have food sensitivities and corn is on the list - think about just getting the basics from Thrive and then make your own entrees.

Great Food - Misleading Instructions
I really enjoy the Rice with Sweet Pepper Beef Steak but I am disappointed by the instructions. The instructions seem to me to be misleading. On the can it clearly states: "12 servings." In the directions it states "mix 2 cups hot water with one spice packet. Add 2 cups rice blend. Makes 1 serving."
However there are only 6 spice packets and ~12 cups of the rice mix per can. This is not 12 servings but six according to the label. The authors need to clear up this misunderstanding and change the numbers to reflect the actual quantities in the can.
It is still a very good product but this misinformation does not help.Quality

This is a keeper for our emergency food storage supply!
We are a family of 4. Our 6 year old had a hard time with the amount of pepper in this meal, but finished it, followed by a tall glass of cold water. Our 9 year old ate it with no complaints, along with my husband and me. My husband and I eat very little salt, so this was extremely salty for our palettes. We give this 5 stars, because in a disaster/power outage, the pepper and salt would be the least of our worries, and everyone would eat this without complaint! All in all, this made a very delicious meal.

Great Meal! My entire family raved over this dinner. I'll definitly be stocking up on this!
This is my favorite entree so far and we've tried three. We had the Rice with Sweet Pepper Beef Steak and a side of freeze dried green beans and it was a perfect meal, (especially because I didn't have to nag anyone to finish their dinner.)
I have one recommendation and that is to reduce the water by 2 TBS. It may be a little confusing because the label on the can says 12 servings but on the preparation instructions it says one serving is 2 cups of the mix and one seasoning packet (this amount actually serves at least three people). So for my family of seven I prepared half the can (or four cups mix) and two seasoning packets with 3 3/4 cups water instead of 4 cups and it was perfect for us.Quality
