  1. Loving it so far.

You should know that this ships directly from the manufacturer, not from Shelf Reliance. So you may not get Shelf Reliance's amazing shipping times and service. Mine was back ordered at the time I placed my order, but there was no way of knowing that via Shelf Reliance's website. So while I was a little bummed I had to wait longer than I was planning on to receive it, now that its here, I love it. So far, I've just steamed cleaned it (put a pot of soapy water in and let the sun do the rest), and then yesterday I just through a butternut squash in whole at 9 am when the morning sun was just hitting it, came back at 1:30 pm, and it was perfectly cooked. My squash did fall off the swinging tray while cooking, and I have a little squash juice to clean up now, but the tray removal looks easy enough, and I will take cleaning my sun oven over my normal oven ANY DAY! When I was first setting my oven up to clean it, by the time I had taken the protective film off the reflectors and gotten everything in position (15-20 minutes) it had already heated up to 325 degrees. This is on a January winter afternoon in AZ. I was skeptical that the thermometer was giving an accurate reading, so I put my own in there, and within another 20 minutes, they were both reading 350. The reflectors stay cool to the touch, but the glass and the metal thumb screws to hold the glass door down can get hot, so use an oven mitt. I'm so excited to use it more and more!

  2. The Sun Oven is wonderful!

Living in the desert, solar is a good option for us. I bought a Sun Oven a couple of years ago. It works great! The food is cooked perfectly, moist and tender. It's compact, light-weight and quick and easy to set up.

My husband was a little skeptical at first, but the first meal I cooked using the Sun Oven got a "2 thumbs up" from my husband!

I have several friends who have purchased the Sun Oven and they are all very pleased with it.

  3. A great product

My husband had built a solar oven years ago, but it didn't work well. I finally bought one and it works amazingly well. It saves heating up the house, using fuel, and I know it will work in an emergency (if the sun is shining). Even in Northern Vermont on the Canadian border we get great meals all year round. I use it like I used to use my crock pot. Any one-dish meal is great. Or, you can bake in it too on the days you're cooking using other methods.

  4. Can't wait to buy one

After watching several YouTube videos about the Sun Oven, I'm setting aside some money to buy one in the near future. This would come in handy to use during the summer months for everything I bake.
